Becoming a Tutor
Excellent training, Great Skills and Amazing Opportunities
All our tutors are trained to an excellent standard, undertaking our personally developed training course. During the course, tutors learn about the principles, stages and areas of learning.
Tutors are also encouraged to offer a personalised and tailored way of teaching to each learner and to cater for individual needs and requirements. Theory work is completed in class; this is where leaners will gain the knowledge and understanding of skills they will need to live a more independent lifestyle. The online learning programme is filled with activities, videos and work sheets to make learning fun and easy.
However, we know that learning in a classroom is sometimes not enough and that a more practical session will be needed to gain the confidence in applying these skills. Our tutors have been trained to make learning fun and will always try and take things out of the classroom. More practical sessions regularly take place such as cooking classes to improve healthy eating, supported day trips out into the community to gain skills in using public transport, visits to the local grocery store to work on money management, attending appointments at the local authority to gain an understanding of citizenship and many more.
